Welcome to the SFO at Rygaards International School. Weโ€™re looking forward to welcoming your child. The SFO offers a caring environment with modern indoor and outdoor facilities. All activities are based on educational considerations and high professional expertise, which help to create and strengthen relationships and friendships across grades, ages, and cultures. Activities are our โ€œcommon groundโ€, a space where we develop many skills, including curiosity, self-esteem, and confidence.

The SFO is part of Rygaard School, and just like the school, our values and practices are based on a Christian worldview. We focus on strengthening childrenโ€™s empathy for others, confidence in themselves, as their overall development.

The SFO is a safe place where children can grow socially, personally, and academically. We aim to create a culture where all children feel welcome and accepted as they are. We actively work to promote mutual respect among the children and show them that every person is valuable to the community.

We work to include all children and ensure that everyone is part of our community. We address conflicts as they arise, and we use a respectful educational approach with the children. We listen and pay attention when we are with the children, and their well-being is our top priority.

All our activities are carefully planned to create the best possible foundation for the holistic personal development of each child. Through creativity and physical activities, we strengthen the children’s social relationships, their ability to cooperate with others, and their imagination. In addition, these activities stimulate their fine and gross motor skills as well as their sense of rhythm and balance.

Safety and personal development

To create a safe place to learn, have fun, be active, and get to know oneself.

Community and respect

To teach children to interact with each other in a community with empathy, respect, and consideration for everyone.

Friendships across year groups

To provide children with the opportunity to establish friendships across age, culture, and departments.

Creative and physical activities

To offer children creative and physical activities that benefit their physical and social development.

Influence and responsibility

To give children influence and the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning.

Children can take part in a range of after-school activities, offering opportunities for creative, social, and active play in a safe and supportive environment.

At the SFO, we have a number of well-established traditions and events that foster a strong sense of community and create memorable experiences for the children throughout the year. These activities provide opportunities for creativity, teamwork, performances, and enjoyable social time, bringing together children from different year groups.

The Quiet Room is a space where children can take a break and enjoy some quiet time. A member of staff is present in the Quiet Area until 16:30.

Each day, children are offered a healthy afternoon snack, such as fruit or vegetables, at 14:30.

We offer a wide range of creative activities that encourage focus and immersion while helping to develop fine motor skills and concentration. Children can enjoy painting, drawing, working with clay, learning different knotting techniques, cutting, sticking, and much more.

We play a wide variety of board games, including chess, Monopoly, Risk, card games, and tabletop role-playing games, as well as many others.

Children can build with LEGO, marble runs, Magformers, Sticks and Plus-Plus in a calm and engaging environment that encourages creativity, concentration and imaginative play.

We encourage children to stay active through play and movement, helping to develop their gross motor skills. We make use of the playground, the school sports halls and the multi-purpose hall in the basement. Activities include yoga, mindfulness, movement and music sessions, singing games, ball games and balance exercises, all of which help to develop children’s skills, confidence and ability to work together.

We visit the music room once or twice a week to make music together. Children practise in bands and have opportunities to sing either as soloists or as part of a choir.

The Gala Evening is a special event for ‘3. klasse’ pupils in the Danish Department and Year 4 pupils in the International Department, bringing children together for an evening of celebration, fun and friendship.

Halloween Party

Our annual Halloween Party is held for pupils in ‘2. klasse’ of the Danish Department and Year 3 of the International Department. Children enjoy an afternoon of Halloween-themed activities, games and creative fun, all while celebrating together with their friends.

Open Stage takes place two to four times a year and provides children with the opportunity to perform and showcase their talents in a safe and supportive environment. The event encourages confidence, creativity and mutual respect, while celebrating everyone who has the courage to perform in front of an audience.

We have a very close, strong, and open collaboration with the parents, and we are happy to take time in our daily routine to discuss both small and large questions regarding the children. We consider it important to build bridges between home and the SFO to create the best possible conditions for the child’s well-being.

We value close collaboration with the parents to ensure the well-being of each child. The educators are always available for an informal or formal meeting if you wish to discuss matters concerning your child.

We follow the values of Rygaards School in our collaboration with the school’s teachers. This means that we also use our educational skills and resources in school contexts, such as Theme Weeks and Project Days.

We have a positive and close collaboration with the teachers regarding each class as well as the students’ well-being and development. We share indoor and outdoor facilities with the school. In addition, we collaborate on special events, e.g. holiday celebrations, U.N Day etc.
